Rotary Club of Fort Myers South honored members of Lee County law enforcement during its inaugural Law and Order Ball Friday, October 10, 2014 at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers, Florida. The event drew more than 400 local dignitaries, law enforcement representatives, business owners and residents. Among the red and blue hues of siren lights from law enforcement cars, boats, motorcycles and even a helicopter in the room, two officers were named Officers of the Year at the 2014 Law and Order Ball: Officer Yvetta Dominque and Officer Bryan Fuller, both from the Fort Myers Police Department. These officers have done and outstanding job of developing programs targeting local at-risk youth. The officers meet regularly with a group of young people to share positive messages, inspiration, and to build trusting relationships. They also organized a summer camp program which serves hundreds of students each year. Officers Dominque and Fuller will receive custom designed jewelry from Mark Loren Designs, recognition plaque, and their own brand new Glock pistol. Five finalists were recognized out of 22 nominations submitted from six different area law enforcement agencies: Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Police Department, Cape Coral Police Department, Sanibel Police Department, Florida Gulf Coast University Police Department, and Florida Southwestern State College Police Department. Athough the committee selection process was “blind” (all identifiers were blacked out on the nomination forms reviewed by the six member panel of judges), all five finalists happened to be from the Fort Myers Police Department. In addition to the Officer Yvetta Dominque and Officer Bryan Fuller who were named co-Officers of the Year, finalists included::

“We were looking for the officers that went above and beyond that exhibit a consistent pattern of doing more and someone that exemplifies their department,” said Jeffrey Kircher, a member Rotary South Board who served on the award selection committee. 
The night’s events also included a silent auction, and a live auction with many unique packages – including Mark Loren-designed cuff links, VIP excursions, and even a ride in a SWAT team vehicle. Entertainment was provided by the local band “Alter Ego”, and the ceremonies were led by Rachel Pierce, co-anchor of NBC2 News Today. Proceeds from the event go to law enforcement youth programs and to help fund community grants given by the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South.
